BOSTON, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Sports Mogul Inc. today announced
its new game Baseball Mogul Online has been selected as a finalist
in the Sports category for the 2001 MIMC Awards. Held annually by
the Massachusetts Interactive Media Council, the MIMC Awards recognize
excellence in the creation of interactive media applications and
products designed, produced or developed in New England. The MIMC
Awards has been cited as one of the most prestigious awards competitions
for New England's interactive industry, and one of the largest technology
awards showcases in the country.
"New England produces some of the most impressive interactive
products and applications in the industry today,'' said Leslie Cushing,
executive director of MIMC. "We are proud of all our finalists
for their excellent work. They are examples of why New England is
on the cutting edge of the Internet industry.''
Baseball Mogul Online is a web-based multi-player sports simulation
that puts the user in charge of a professional baseball club, and
challenges him to build a pennant-winning team. With full control
over the team's roster and finances, the user must assemble the
right players to win the championship, while managing the team's
profit and loss. Up to 30 game players can compete head-to-head
in each online league to see who makes the best team General Manager.
Baseball Mogul Online is an officially licensed product of the Major
League Baseball Players Association, and includes the photos and
statistics of 1500 major league players.
"We're honored and excited that our new Internet game has
been recognized by MIMC,'' said Clay Dreslough, President of Sports
Mogul. ``We believe this underscores the potential of multi-player
online sports games, particularly now that the regular baseball
season is ending and fantasy baseball players are looking for a
game to play in the off-season.''
Sports Mogul Inc. will be recognized with the other finalists in
the Sports category at a gala awards ceremony attended by approximately
1,200 of the interactive media industry's top professionals. Winners
will be announced at the ceremony in the Boston Copley Place Marriott
on Monday, October 15th, 2001.
The 2001 MIMC Awards is sponsored by Adobe Systems, Inc., Bingham
Dana LLP, Boston.com, IBM, Magic Hour Communications, Nixon Peabody
